The 12th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP 2015) was held in Jeju, Republic of Korea, from 14 to 19 June 2015.

The Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Forum on Artisanal and Small Scale Gold Mining and the Minamata Convention on Mercury was held on April 14-16 2015, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

At the invitation of the UNEP Chemicals Branch DTIE, and the UNEP Regional Office of Africa, the Inception Workshop on the Phase II of the East Africa Dental Amalgam Phase down Project was held on 23rd March 2015 at United Nations Office in Gigiri, Nairobi. The various participants presented their respective contributions to the project and the national project coordinators presented their respective project work plans. 

The governments of Peru and the United States partnered to host a South American Forum on National Action Plans to Reduce Mercury from ASGM. The workshop provided space for officials from Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador to share experiences and best practices, as each country seeks to develop national action plans to reduce mercury use in the small-scale mining sector.

The meeting was held in United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), back to back with the sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to prepare a legally binding instrument on mercury
