Multi-stakeholder consultations, trainings & peer-exchanges for ambitious climate action
The NDC Action project aims to support the Ministry of Environment and key stakeholders in driving the NDC implementation process in two sub-sectors namely; the water for agriculture use and the solid waste. The implementation process shall be a collaborative national process; implementation process shall be a collaborative national process; therefore the project developed a multi-stakeholder consultation mechanism to facilitate decision-making among both state and non-state actors. This step came following mapping the relevant stakeholders in the two priority sectors.
In addition to the consultation mechanism, a technical working group composed of relevant ministries and governmental agencies was formed in consultation with UNEP, UNEPCCC, NTI, and the ministry of environment.
The project team assessed the institutional and human capacities of the public institutions to identify the capacity needs and the challenges in the institutional structure and provide the necessary training programs by holding a series of training workshops to ultimately establish the urgency of climate action and the need for raising the ambition.
The capacity-building programs will be tailored technical training for experts in the two priority sectors to build and strengthen their technical capacity in various areas including, among others, climate finance, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and the Commitments to international agreements and conventions.
The NDC Action project will disseminate the knowledge gained by increasing the visibility of the project’s activities, best practices, and lessons learned in the form of factsheets to be shared locally, regionally and globally.
