The Agreement for Climate Action: a model for public-private collaboration

The Agreement for Climate Action is a platform for exchange and continuous training to articulate initiatives between the public and private sectors, in support of Argentina's climate commitments.

Since it was launched in 2022, the Agreement for Climate Action has completed various activities and trainings, involving more than 1,000 companies. In this context, and thanks to the support of the NDC Action project, a meeting was held in Buenos Aires on 5 September, to discuss and develop investment proposals.

With the participation of more than 700 representatives of companies, SMEs, sectoral chambers of commerce and trade associations, unions and international organizations. The event featured 12 workshops, discussions and meetings on topics such as adaptation to climate change, carbon footprint and carbon neutrality goals, sustainable financing, energy efficiency, technologies, business and innovation for sustainability, carbon markets, industrial symbiosis and green jobs.

At the closing, with the presence of the Minister of Economy Sergio Massa and the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Kelly Olmos and the Secretary of Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Innovation, Cecilia Nicolini, more than 80 companies and business associations from all over the country signed a Letter of Commitment for Climate Action. The aim is to pursue a sustainable development model, by improving environmental and social performance and the efficient and responsible use of natural assets an deliver on the NDCs.
