Amman,12 March 2023 – The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) conducted, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, a technical training on climate change adaptation, as part of the NDC Action Project’s efforts to strengthen the capacity of national stakeholders.
The two-day capacity-building training was held on 12 and 13 March at the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), the National Technical Institution of the NDC action Project, with support from the United Nations Environment programme (UNEP) and the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Center.
The workshop sought to familiarise participants with water and agriculture sector challenges in Jordan, and provide them with innovative and unconventional solutions that can be incorporated into national strategies, policies and projects.
It provided an overview of climate change vulnerability and adaptation analysis and tools, including insights from the new National Communication Report currently under development. Techniques to understand and analyse adaptation measures, climate models projections and scenarios development, water harvesting and climate-smart agriculture were also discussed at length.
Twenty representatives of various ministries and agencies working in the water and agriculture sectors interacted and shared their experiences and knowledge during the event.
