Large- and small-scale horticulture is a key contributor to Kenya’s economy, but has a significant negative impact on the local environment, including through unsustainable water consumption and pollution from the use of fertilizers and pesticides. In this project, WWF-Kenya and the German-based Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) have embarked on an ambitious initiative that aims to shift micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (30% youth-led) in the horticulture sector in the Lake Naivasha basin towards sustainable consumption and production practices while providing green jobs and improving incomes.
