InforMEA introductory course to MAP and the Barcelona Convention

InforMEA is the UN information portal on Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). It provides access to a variety of resources on MEAs to a wide range of stakeholders. Offerings include free online courses on MEAs, including the InforMEA Introductory Course to the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) and the Barcelona Convention.

The Introductory Course to MAP and the Barcelona Convention will provide you with an overview of how the 22 Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention take action to protect the marine environment and the coastal region of the Mediterranean, thus contributing to the vision of a healthy Mediterranean, sustainably managed and preserved for the present and future generations.

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

1. describe the key legal obligations under the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols
2. define the institutional arrangements put in place to implement the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols
3. list the major strategies and guiding principles at the heart of the Mediterranean Action Plan
