The Asia Environmental Enforcement Awards (hereafter the ‘Awards’) publicly recognize and celebrate excellence in enforcement by government officials and institutions or teams combating transboundary environmental crime. The Awards are given to individuals or teams that demonstrate excellence and leadership in enforcement of national laws to combat transboundary environmental crime.

This is the fourth time the Awards will be given, and this year’s Awards will be given to recipients who demonstrate excellence and leadership in one or more of the following categories: collaboration; impact; innovation; integrity; and gender leadership. The 2019 Awards will be given by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNDOC), the secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and INTERPOL, with the financial support of the Government of Norway.

The ceremony for the 2019 Awards will be held on 13 November 2019, from 5:15 to 8:00 PM at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok. It will take place on the third day of ‘SEA of Solutions’, a partnership week organized by UNEP and the Coordinating Body on the Seas of East Asia, to inspire market-based solutions and encourage enabling policies to prevent marine plastic pollution in South East Asia.

The master of ceremonies will be the Thai celebrity Ms. Patchari Raksawong. A buffet dinner and refreshments will be served during the event.
