The New York Office represents UNEP at the UN Headquarters. It fosters strategic partnerships, information exchange, and cooperation with Member States, the UN Secretariat, and UN entities and major groups, among other stakeholders with offices in New York.
It facilitates information exchange with UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi on processes relevant to UNEP’s mandate. It also works to ensure that the environmental dimension is integrated into global discussions at UN Headquarters while linking key environmental outcomes—such as those from the UN Environment Assembly—with intergovernmental and interagency processes including the Economic and Social Council, the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development, the UN General Assembly, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Group.
