A meeting was held at the Foreign Affairs offices in Paris (rue de Javel) on 27 September 2019 to follow-up on previous discussions regarding the possible involvement of the French and Canadian governments in the translation of the sixth edition of the Global Environment Outlook.
The main conclusions were:
- The French ministry has some funds to contribute to this effort but would need to move quickly because the funds expire at the end of October 2019.
- The best option for conducting the translation is I'Institut de la Francophonie pour le Developpement Durable, which handled the French translation of the GEO-6 for Africa.
- Once the translation is available, further outreach efforts, for north African countries in particular, will be discussed. The Government of Canada may be able to support these activities.
