The 9th Africa Animal Welfare Conference, themed “Strengthening Actions for Animal Welfare and Environment for a Sustainable Future and Resilient Planet,” will emphasize the urgent need for a holistic sustainability approach that integrates animal welfare, environmental conservation, and human well-being. The conference will address biodiversity loss, climate change, and the impact of human activities on ecosystems. With sub-themes including climate change, habitat conservation, sustainable agriculture, policy frameworks, and community-based conservation. It will aim to facilitate policy discussions, enhance partnerships, showcase innovative solutions, and highlight indigenous knowledge. 

The annual conference, will be co-hosted by the Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), and the Cameroon Government. The conference will take place at Hotel Franco, Yaounde, Cameroon from July 28-30, 2025.
