The meeting was hosted by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection and supported by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW).
The objective of the meeting was to support the African Major Groups and Stakeholder on communication, outreach, and advocacy. The meeting was expected to:
- Build capacity of representatives of the African Major Groups and Stakeholders on communication, advocacy, and outreach for an effective participation in key environmental fora at regional and global levels.
- Establish an African Major Groups and Stakeholders taskforce to support the UN Environment Presidency.
- Mobilise African Major Groups and Stakeholders to support the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) as well as UN Environment Assembly (UNEA).
The meeting was held from 20 to 21 June at the Hassan II International Center for Environmental Training, Rabat, Morocco. An online platform was available for virtual participation.
