The two-day meeting which was jointly organized by UNEP and the Friedrich Ebert Stfitung was a follow-up to a preparatory meeting held in March 2012.
The meeting re-convened participants of the preparatory meeting held on 29-30 March 2012 as a joint project of UNEP and Friedrich Ebert Stfitung (FES).
It was aimed at taking stock of the debates at the Rio+20 conference in Brazil in June 2012, reviewing its outcome document, in particular the implications for development and environmental policy perspectives in Africa and linking the discussions to the current discourse on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Post-2015 development agenda.
The meeting put a focus on these issues and came up with a statement reflecting the views and concerns of Civil Society and Trade Unions in Africa.
