This three-hour capacity building and training workshop, for all Major Groups and Other Stakeholders, will inform participants about the upcoming UN Environment Assembly and its first session, to be held on the 22nd and 23rd of February 2021 in Nairobi, Kenya.
With the theme ‘Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,’ UNEA 5.1 is the first global conference to deal with environmental and sustainability issues in what has been declared the Decade of Action to deliver the Global Goals, 2021 – 2030.
Issues addressed: The session will take participants through the UNEA system, unraveling the process of negotiations, explaining how to influence sessions, understand policy complexities, and explain the political importance of the Medium-Term Strategy, the MTS, and the Programme of Works, the PoW. The MTS, which will be decided on by UNEA 5.1, is the work priorities and policy directions for the UNEP for the next four years.
More information about UNEA 5.1 can be found by visiting UNEP’s UNEA website.
