• Overview

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025 brings together geoscientists from across the globe to present and discuss work in the Earth, planetary and space sciences.

In this year's assembly, sessions on methane measurement will convene scientists whose research focuses on the quantification and source attribution of human-caused methane emissions. They will feature research from UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO), which initiates and supports methane science studies around the world.

Accurately measuring and attributing methane emissions is critical to advancing mitigation efforts and tracking changes in emissions over time.
