About Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform
The Asia-Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Information Platform (AP-PLAT) is a system that provides Asia-Pacific countries with data on the effects of climate change. The platform also converts scientific climate risk dataset and information into actual adaptation policies and practical actions on the ground. It will provide data on future temperature levels, flood risks and possible effects of climate change on rice crops and livestock farming.
The platform is developed to provide a space to communicate and facilitate partnerships and collaboration to adapt to climate-resilient and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. Through the collaborative activities with partners, the platform promotes an enabling environment for an informed climate change risk decision making and practical adaptation action.
The system, to be run by Japan's National Institute for Environmental Studies, will also give information on health risks associated with climate change, such as heatstroke risks.
The United Nations Environment Programme is one of the implementing partners of AP-PLAT and will support adaptation planning of developing countries by developing and sharing applicable tools and good practices, scientific assessment, as well as climate-risk information. Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) will mobilise adaptation knowledge through collaboration with its sub-regional and thematic partners.
