The fourth National Legal Aid Conference themed on climate change and environmental justice, aimed to address the pressing issue of the climate crisis from a global perspective. The focus will be on fostering dialogue around the opportunities, gaps, and solutions necessary to enhance responses, adaptation, and mitigation efforts to the climate crisis. The conference's primary goal is to promote environmental justice, particularly for disadvantaged and marginalized communities, including the poor, vulnerable populations, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities. These discussions will aim to generate actionable strategies for improving access to environmental justice for people that are disproportionately affected by climate change.
Through a peer-to-peer approach, the conference aims to:
- Explore strategies and recommendations to enhance access to environmental justice for the vulnerable and marginalized groups.
- Seek participants’/stakeholders’ input on the strategies and recommendations for enhancing access to environmental justice and legal aid for vulnerable and marginalized groups.
- Showcase use of innovative approaches for provision of legal aid for environmental justice to vulnerable and marginalized group

- Documented best practices in mitigating climate change crises in a global context
- Heightened stakeholders’ engagements, networking, and collaboration for building synergies for access to justice in climate change and environmental
- Enhanced understanding and appropriate use of science technology and technology in the context of climate change and environmental justice

- Legal experts from across the continent and beyond including academia, civil society experts, media representatives, regional and international organisations.
- Government representatives from various countries specifically from the Ministries responsible for environment, state corporations and government agencies, Climate Change and environmental bodies, judges from environment and land court, prosecutors, law associations and other organisations of legal professionals.
