• Overview

The annual implementation conference of UNEP’s Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 will take place from February 4 to 6, 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

OGMP 2.0 is UNEP’s flagship oil and gas methane mitigation and measurement programme. It is the sector’s only comprehensive measurement-based reporting framework - increasingly recognized as the global standard for monitoring, reporting and verification of methane emissions in the oil and gas industry.

Importantly, OGMP 2.0 also offers an exclusive and trusted community of practice for companies to share their experiences transitioning to credible measurement-based reporting. This improved transparency allows members to design targeted methane reduction strategies, addressing the largest actual sources of emissions.

The annual conference is a key forum for facilitating the knowledge exchange and advancing efforts to cut methane emissions. It brings together representatives of OGMP 2.0’s more than 150 member companies, who collectively represent over 42% of global oil and gas production, as well as non-company partners from academia, governments, international organisations, and NGOs to strengthen knowledge and best practice sharing on methane measurement and management.

Note: attendance is limited to OGMP 2.0 members and partners.
