Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India is organizing the ‘Smart Cities: Smart Urbanisation’ event on the 18th and 19th April 2022 in Surat, Gujarat. This event will act as a platform for more than 500 city officials across India to learn, discuss, visualize and share their work on Smart Cities including climate actions.
Tackling extreme heat and rising cooling demand are critical challenges for cities across India. UNEP and RMI, in partnership with MoHUA and NIUA, are establishing an Urban Cooling Program to provide on-the-ground technical assistance to Indian cities on these twin challenges. Cities are invited to a dedicated session during Smart Cities: Smart Urbanisation event in Surat to learn more about this program, how to participate and about international and local best practices on urban cooling. The program is delivered as part of the Cool Coalition and Indo-Danish Green Strategic Partnership with funding support from the Government of Denmark and Clean Cooling Collaborative.
