This event by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is part of a collaboration between UNEP, the Italian Presidency of the G20 and the Youth20 (Y20) to explore how higher education and capacity building can provide younger generations with adequate mindsets and tools to contribute to and accelerate the transition towards a green and circular economy.
In the context of the G20 Environment Track, UNEP is organising an event to host a discussion with young leaders and experts from across the G20 to discuss specific questions/recommendations for the G20 Environment Ministers on how they could support these efforts.
This forum will explore how member states can support young people to learn, understand and grow an environmental mindset through formal and non-formal education interventions and the role of working with youth to create green and circular jobs.
This event will host a discussion about the role of youth, government and higher education in this process. The event will kick off with a 30-minute discussion among G20 ministers, UN Environment Programme and EU representatives, moderated by young people from the Y20 to share their thoughts around some of these key themes. This discussion will be followed by three 30-minutes sessions focusing on the themes of formal education, non-formal education and building capacities to rewire the future.
