#GenerationRestoration challenge with Google Arts and Culture: 7 days of actions for ecosystems

Taking place on 5 June, World Environment Day is the United Nations’ most important day for environmental action and awareness-raising. Pakistan is the global host to the 2021 edition of the Day, whose theme is Ecosystem Restoration. A UN Decade was also launched on the topic on 5 June.

Ecosystem restoration can take many forms, from cleaning a natural space to growing trees, greening cities or changing diets. We can all take part. A #GenerationRestoration challenge launched together with Google Arts and Culture calls on people to take a daily action to help protect and revive the ecosystems that form the basis for life on Earth.

Every day from 4 to 10 June, Google Arts and Culture is announcing a challenge that you can get inspired by, take part in, and share, as well as other stories and visual content.

UNEP Global Ambassador and aviation pioneer Bertrand Piccard, who combines science and adventure to tackle some of the greatest challenges of our time, calls on you to share what you believe the world needs to achieve in the next 10 years for sustainability. Meanwhile, UNEP Young Champion of the Earth Lefteris Arapakis, who is clearing thousands of kilograms of plastic from the Mediterranean and upcycling or recycling it, calls on you to take action to avoid single-use plastics.
