At the 7th Asia Pacific Adaptation Network, UNEP is co-leading the Nature-based Resilience Stream together with IUCN. Under this stream, the Global Adaptation Network is co-organizing two technical sessions: one on Planning and Processes with UNEP’s Regional Office for Asia Pacific, and another on Science and Assessments with UN Climate Change.

The Planning and Processes session will cover integrating nature-based solutions and ecosystem-based adaptation in National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). The keynote speaker will provide an overview of the NAP process, followed by three sectoral presentations: 1) NbS and EbA principles, along with key issues to be considered for integrating EbA into NAP process; 2) NAPs and agroforestry; and 3) integrating health perspectives into NAPs.

The panellists will share their experiences and lessons learned on implementing and integrating nature-based approaches, such as EbA in national planning processes. The session will also present key messages from UNEP on its existing work on the development of the Supplementary Guidelines for Integrating Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) into National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
