Once a year, the Major Groups and Stakeholders Branch convenes Regional Consultative Meetings with Major Groups and Stakeholders (RCMs) in all six UNEP regions.
The consultations are held in preparation for UNEP’s Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum and the special sessions are held every February. Furthermore, these meetings provide an opportunity for Major Groups and stakeholders to prepare their inputs into the Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum (GMGSF).
The Regional Consultative Meetings also serve as capacity building and networking exercises for Major Groups and stakeholders in the regions, and constitute platforms for Regional Offices to engage with their civil society partners on a regular basis.
