The Eye on Earth Symposium will be held at the Mina A’Salam Hotel in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 22-24 October 2018. This Symposium calls for participants from the government, UN bodies, non-governmental sector, private sector, academia and civil society; to convene, converge and collaborate in order to support evidence-based decision making for environmental and natural resource aspects of sustainable development.
The Eye on Earth Symposium is a global community of individuals and organizations that collaborate across disciplines and geographies to strengthen the environmental component of Sustainable Development. UN Environment has partnered with the Environment Agency of Abu Dhabi (EAD), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), World Resources Institute (WRI), Group on Earth Observations (GEO), to convene leading practitioners, scientists and policy makers in the field of environmental data, with the view to informing global environmental decision making, and building a solid, data-driven foundation for the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Eye on Earth Symposium comprises of two meeting rooms and an adjacent networking area. It is an outcomes-focused event, concentrating on progressing the Eye on Earth Vision by catalyzing and strengthening bilateral and multi-lateral partnerships. The content for this symposium is provided by members of the Eye on Earth Global Community, delivering content which is a mixture of presentations with Q&A, panel discussions, and in-depth, interactive, multi-hour workshops.
The organizers of the Eye on Earth Symposium will webcast the Symposium sessions for those unable to attend in person. Remote participants will be able to see, hear and speak.
