On 13 May, while scientists hammer out the fine print of emissions targets at the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 49th session in Kyoto, another group of experts will gather in the same venue to explore on-the-ground solutions to the climate challenges we are facing. Thought-leaders in science, business, policy, international development and more will meet at the Kyoto International Conference Center; thousands more will join online from around the world for the fully live-streamed event, plus digital summits, videos and discussion forums spanning five continents.
Main objectives
GLF Kyoto aims to:
- Map the way to implementing the steps to reach global development and climate goals, guided by the IPCC Special Report on 1.5°
- Trigger action: inspire transformations that help achieve global goals through local leadership and initiatives
- Raise global awareness about the urgent need for land-based climate actions and lifestyle changes
