• Overview

During the two days, 5th and 6th July 2018 in Vatican City, more than 500 participants from 100 countries representing different congregations, churches, educational institutions, philanthropists, indigenous people, and the UN engaged in reflecting on Laudato Si, the ecological integration, and where we are at in implementing it.

Panels and parallel sessions discussed issues of climate change, youth and women, faith and the environment and a carbon-free economy. UN Environment representatives participated in the plenary sessions and then divided to take part in sessions on economy, climate change and faith and the church. Steven Stone (Green Economy), Charles McNeill (Interfaith Rainforest Initiative), and Iyad Abumoghli (Faith for Earth Initiative) introduced UN Environment work highlighting areas of convergence and proposing clear ideas on how to take Laudato Si to a more practical and impactful level.
