Description: The Italian Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, IEA, and UNEP have collaborated on the Digital Demand-Driven Electricity Networks Initiative (3DEN) since 2020, aiming to leverage digital technologies to modernize electricity systems and support decarbonization. The initiative addressed risks like energy insecurity and grid inefficiencies while promoting policy reforms, business models, and large-scale tech investments. 3DEN produced over 60 publications and hosted 100+ events to share best practices and inform decisions for power infrastructure in emerging markets.

The G7 Climate Communique and IEA conferences recognized 3DEN's role in promoting digital technologies in emerging economies. Due to high demand, phase II will launch in 2025, focusing on African nations and expanding digital energy solutions. An event will celebrate phase I achievements, share lessons, and introduce phase II’s pilot project call.
