Description: To tackle the climate crisis and build a sustainable future for all, meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement is essential. Achieving this is impossible without transparency.

Transparency builds trust and allows for the development and implementation of policies that support low-emission, climate-resilient development. It fosters collaboration and collective action among nations. The submission of the first Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) marks a crucial step in tracking progress toward climate goals. While countries are actively preparing their BTRs, they must also begin preparing their next Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), due in 2025. With these two interconnected processes happening simultaneously, countries need to find ways to create synergies between them, as the preparation of both the first BTR and the next NDC involve significant challenges for many nations.

The side event will introduce the GACMO tool, a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions projections tool, which is applicable for both BTRs and NDCs projections, and can also be used for NDC tracking. Additionally, the event will present a new set of NDC tracking guidance documents and provide a platform for countries to share their experiences, lessons learned, and challenges in meeting the Enhanced Transparency Framework requirements and fulfilling their NDC commitments.
