Description:

The IPCC noted that the world cannot meet the Paris climate goals without widespread deployment of carbon management technologies. A wider assessment of carbon abatement options including nuclear gives MENA decision-makers greater optionality in addressing the climate crisis while overcoming energy market, macroeconomic stability and other risks to inclusive sustainable development and environmental integrity in the region and beyond.

This session will take stock of holistic circular economy approaches, such as the circular carbon economy framework that G20 leaders endorsed in Riyadh in 2020 and supporting governance framework and policies, and how these enable emission reductions to deliver on UN Climate and Sustainable Development Goals.

This session brings together perspectives to increase investment in climate smart solutions, particularly circular economy emission reduction technologies, including carbon capture utilization and storage, modern bio energy, waste to energy, direct air capture, nature-based solutions
