The government of Germany and the European Commission will organize a ministerial meeting at COP29 to promote the mission of UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) to translate the world’s methane ambition into action via open, reliable and actionable data.
In this context, Germany and the European Commission, as key supporters of IMEO, will convene ministers and high-level representatives from international organizations, industry and civil society to highlight IMEO’s data-driven solutions for catalyzing methane mitigation, the need for decisive actions from companies and governments, and the opportunity to leverage additional support for IMEO’s mission.
During the event, the a refreshed version of IMEO’s methane data platform will be unveiled alongside the launch of its 2024 Eye on Methane report, both of whch provide credible and policy-relevant insights on the world’s methane emissions to a growing ecosystem of stakeholders engaged on this crucial climate effort.
