Description:
Local Ecosystem Restoration for Nature Positive Cities and Regions aims to be a pivotal gathering for local and subnational governments, rallying them to commit to sustainable, nature-positive policies. Leveraging the momentum from COP28's Nature Outcome Three, the event seeks to advance the call to action for "Nature Positive Development," a crucial strategy in tackling urgent environmental crises. By showcasing existing tools and announcing projects - and the policies that enable them - the event aims to draw policymakers focus on the opportunities they have for sustainably manage land, protect biodiversity, and bolster climate resilience.
Partners from various sectors and city and regional leaders will convene to present projects, policy statements, and calls to action to foster an enabling environment for sustainable development. The event will bring together mayors, decision-makers, and business leaders to emphasise the role of cities and regions in spearheading nature-based solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future. The session will also serve as a platform to showcase the innovative Project "Generation Restoration (2023-2025)," which is designed to overcome political, technical, and financial barriers to promote large-scale restoration within the framework of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
