The MENA region faces a number of significant challenges, including water stress, drought, food insecurity, and land degradation, driven by unsustainable resource management and overexploitation. These challenges are further compounded by inadequate governance and regulatory frameworks, political instability and the unique vulnerabilities in fragile and conflict-affected states. Together, these factors intensify the impacts of climate change, drive migration, and deepen existing vulnerabilities, thereby underscoring the urgent need for integrated solutions.

co-organized by the League of Arab States (LAS), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), this event seeks to advance the operationalization of policy coherence and explore the existing policy coherence initiatives and showcase best practices from the region and beyond.

This event will also serve as a platform for stakeholders to deepen their understanding of the policy coherence approach, exchange insights, and share priorities to enable more effective implementation across the region.
