As global priorities shift towards climate action and the governance of transitional minerals, updating the Africa Mining Vision (AMV) and the African Minerals Governance Framework Action (AMGF) plans are vital. UNEP has joined forces with various partners including Centre Africain de development minier (AMDC), Panafrican Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) to organize a joint regional stakeholder consultation workshop focusing on review of the AMV and AMGF action plans that focuses on environment and social issues.
This regional consultative workshop aims to contribute to the review of the environmental and social pillars of the AMV and AMGF and align it with current global sustainability goals (SDG 2030) and, the Aspirations of African Union’s 2063 climate agenda. The workshop will be convened in a hybrid format to allow for a wide range of participation.
