Description: The upcoming launch of the Global Peatland Hotspot Atlas underscores the urgent need for climate action in key peatland areas. The Atlas combines science and policy through thematic maps and visuals to unite stakeholders in setting ambitious targets and securing funding for peatland and wetland conservation, restoration, and sustainable management. This event calls for enhanced efforts under the Global Peatlands Initiative and aims to engage a wide audience by presenting current knowledge in an accessible way, highlighting the importance of peatlands in climate action, biodiversity, and water security. The session will bridge discussions across international conventions like the UNFCCC, CBD, and Ramsar Convention, illustrating how achievements in one area support others. Panelists from different countries will share sustainable peatland management practices, emphasizing the need for integration, available tools, and scalable financial solutions to inspire further global efforts.
