Nature-based climate solutions (NbS) can provide one-third of the global mitigation required by 2030 to stave off the most severe impacts of climate change. This is particularly significant for regions like MENA, where climate change poses heightened risks such as water scarcity and desertification.

In the MENA region, NbS forms the core of various Ecosystem-Based Approaches, providing economical and sustainable methods to bolster resilience against extreme climate events like droughts. Simultaneously, these solutions contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The convergence of MENA Climate Week with globally significant events like COP28 and Saudi Arabia's hosting of COP16 presents an unparalleled opportunity to elevate the role of NbS in the region.
