Join us for this session at the Africa Climate Week! Climate Change is a major driver of vulnerability in Africa. Its negative effects are projected to be increasingly devastating for the continent, thereby threatening its population alongside its rich and unique biodiversity. Experts claim that Africa will need to accelerate transformative solutions to limit the impacts of climate change.
The recent findings from the IPCC’s Working Group II shed light on the transformative potential of nature-based solutions (NbS). Recognized as a powerful tool, NbS can fortify Africa's resilience to climate change, promising not just adaptation but a roadmap to holistic development.
The objectives of this session are to:
- Provide evidence and share lessons, practices and experiences on how NbS initiatives have contributed to strengthening climate resilience in Africa and what transformative actions and funding mechanisms are needed to accelerate adaptation.
- Share insights on how these translate to recommendations for action and support in key international processes including the Global Goal on Adaptation and the Global Stocktake.
