Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs) are ‘pesticides that are acknowledged to present particularly high levels of acute or chronic hazards to health or environment according to internationally accepted classification systems or their listing in relevant binding international agreements or conventions’.

Following the adoption of Resolution V/11 at the Fifth Session of the International Conference of Chemicals Management (ICCM5), FAO, in collaboration with UNDP, UNEP, and WHO, is leading efforts to establish a Global Alliance on Highly Hazardous Pesticides (GAHHPs).

Join us at an online global event to learn more about the establishment of this Alliance, which is conceived as a voluntary, multi-stakeholder platform aimed at phasing out the use of HHPs in agriculture and enhancing the adoption of safer and affordable alternatives.

Objectives of the Webinar:

  1. Introduce the GAHHPs and provide a status update on progress towards its establishment.
  2. Discuss the proposed operational framework of GAHHPs and collect feedback from stakeholders on its improvement.

14.05 - Opening Remarks: Baogen Gu, FAO and Bianca Dlamini, Africa Institute
