Environmental Peacebuilding

An environmental peacebuilding knowledge platform has been built and is being used by visitors from 185 countries. It consistently receives 5,000-8,000 page views per month, and now contains over 4,300 documents and resources. The knowledge platform supports a virtual Community of Practice with over 3,000 people from 90 countries that have signed up to a regular Environmental Peacebuilding Update.

Environmental Emergencies Centre

The Environmental Emergencies Centre (EEC) is an online tool designed to strengthen the capacity of national responders to environmental emergencies by building on their own mechanisms and drawing on the resources and services of EEC partners. The EEC provides users with a one-stop-shop of all information relevant to the preparedness, prevention and response stages of an environmental emergency.

On the EEC website, you will find:

  • 5 engaging Online Learning courses;
  • A Resource Library featuring guidelines, tools, reports and publications as well as country-level experience, mission reports and lessons learned;
  • A News section providing updated news and events, including regional and world updates on current environmental emergencies;
  • An Events Calendar showing conferences, meetings, symposia, round tables, workshops, trainings and events open to the public;
  • A moderated Discussion Forum on the EEC LinkedIn Group.

Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR)

UNEP is a core founder of the Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR), a global partnership of 23 organizations that promotes ecosystems management as a key strategy to enable vulnerable communities and countries reduce disaster risk and build resilience to disasters and climate change.
