As requested by Member States in Resolution EA.5/3,

“Requests the Executive Director, with guidance from the intergovernmental and multi-stakeholder advisory group, to;

Continue the Global Environment Outlook fellows programme for youth to enhance the participation of younger generations; "

The seventh edition of the Global Environment Outlook's (GEO-7) innovative and solutions-focused approach requires a broad range of expertise, ranging from natural sciences to policy, economics, and social sciences, as well as expertise in outlooks and scenarios, for this ambitious endeavour.

The GEO-7 Fellows are young (younger than 35 years old) experts who support the GEO-7 authors with research, citations and references, visual development and other tasks. The fellows are crucial to the GEO-7 Team and participate in meetings and writing sessions. For the Fellows, being part of GEO-7 is a great learning and networking opportunity as well as a chance to contribute to a major global environmental assessment and interact with experts from all over the world.

GEO-7 fellows will also be recipients of a pilot course on science to policy from Peking University in March 2024. The course, 'From Science to Policy: Translating Scientific Knowledge into Policy-Making Processes for the Environment', will then be rolled out more widely.
