The "Black Mambas" are a one-of-a-kind anti-poaching made up of 36 brave women protecting wildlife at the Balule Nature Reserve in South Africa. On September 24, 2016 a UN Environment team, led by Executive Director Erik Sholheim, traveled to Balule to meet the Black Mambas. In 2015, UN Environment recognized the Black Mambas with the Champions of the Earth Award.
