Ebrahim Gora is the Director, a.i. of the Policy and Programme Division at UNEP, with over 20 years of experience in strategy development, change management, and organizational improvement. He plays a pivotal role in shaping UNEP’s strategic initiatives and policy frameworks to address global environmental challenges.
Ebrahim has held several positions within UNEP, including Deputy Director of the Policy and Programme Division and Head of the Strategic Planning Team. In these roles, he led UNEP’s Transformation, the development of UNEP's Strategy, and oversaw a number of change initiatives, including the design and implementation of a new delivery model, enhancing UNEP's effectiveness and efficiency.
His career spans both public and private sectors. He improved operational efficiency and risk management at Sainsbury's Plc and led strategic transformation programs at the UK Cabinet Office. At the UN Board of Auditors and the UK National Audit Office, he managed international audit programs and provided strategic recommendations on policy analysis and financial management.
Ebrahim holds a degree in Business from Manchester Metropolitan University and is an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Known for his collaborative and inclusive approach, he effectively works with diverse stakeholders, including governments, and the private sector, to drive impactful environmental actions.
