Biography

Elisabeth Turnbull-Brown was the Acting Director of the Corporate Services Division at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

Elisabeth is a national of Australia. She served as the Deputy Director of UNEP’s Corporate Services Division (CSD) since 2019 with responsibility for Finance, Enterprise Solutions, Programme Advisory Services including Procurement, Operations and Risk Management, Audit and UNEP’s own internal environmental sustainability.

Her experience prior to UNEP includes Acting Chief of Operations and Resource Management and Chief, Finance and Budget Section in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Financial Management lead in the areas of budget, cost recovery and financial master data for Umoja, Chief of Section in the Field Operations Finance Division in New York, and Chief of Finance and Budget for the United Nations Assistance Mission to the Khmer Rouge Tribunal (UNAKRT), among others.

Elisabeth has a Bachelor of Economics and holds the professional designation of Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA Australia). She is married and has lived and worked in multiple countries including Finland, the United States, Cambodia, Mali and Kenya. Elisabeth brings with her over 25 years’ experience in financial accounting, budgeting, human resources and administrative roles in the private sector and the United Nations including 21 years in management positions leading teams. Elisabeth joined the UN in 2004 through the National Competitive Examination process and has valued her experiences through this program.
