Ian Somerhalder is an actor, model and environmentalist. He has been supporting environmental causes for many years and, in 2010, launched the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation distributes funds and resources towards global environmental conservation, green energy development, deployment and educational tools. It also aims to create awareness about deforestation and supports efforts to end animal cruelty. Somerhalder was involved in the clean-up after the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling disaster in 2010, cleaning oiled wildlife and informing the public about how to help. More recently, Ian was featured in the climate change documentary series “Years of Living Dangerously”, in an episode on the impacts of coal mining.
