Mr. Caicedo Restrepo, Juan F, is currently a Programme Management Officer for the Special Programme on institutional strengthening at the national level for implementation of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, the Minamata Convention and the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM), located at the UN Environment, Economy Division, Chemicals and Health Branch in Geneva, Switzerland.
Over the course of more than 18 years of his professional career, which includes assignments with UN Environment (Basel and Stockholm Convention) and UNITAR, Juan has been engaged in significant chemicals and waste management issues. Prior to his work at UN Environment, Juan worked in Colombia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America in the oil industry sector.
Juan started his educational career in Colombia where he studied Petroleum Engineering at the Universidad Nacional in Medellin, Colombia, after which he earned a Master of Science In Environmental Pollution Control Management from the Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He is a Colombian and Swiss national.
