The Good Growth Partnership program, together with WWF-Brazil is delivering a capacity building on Deforestation Risk Management for the Central Bank of Brazil from June 28th to 03rd July. The training aims to highlight fundamental concepts about deforestation risk management, present tools and procedures for risk mitigation, and provide practical references on how financial institutions are managing deforestation risk on a daily basis.
The 12-hour capacity building is divided into three modules: Deforestation Risks Management; Deforestation Risk Tools, and Practical exercises. The online training will be taught in a live webinar, which will include an interactive quiz. The participants will also have access to support materials.
The training is delivered by a combination of UNEP FI and WWF-Brazil tutors and expert guests. Tasso Azevedo from MapBiomas, Luiz Amaral from WRI, and Anna Horta and Fernanda Rocha from TNC Brazil will present their deforestation risk tools that support financial institutions to better assess social and environmental risks.
The Deforestation Risk Management capacity building was requested by the Supervision Department of the Central Bank of Brazil and is one of the two trainings delivered by UNEP FI and WWF-Brazil for the Central Bank this year. The other training deals with Biodiversity and the Financial System, and will be delivered in the second semester of 2021.
