Participants convened at the Faith for Earth Conference have prepared a declaration communicating a commitment of faith-based organizations around the world towards taking actions that protect and restore nature.
The declaration calls for the creation of a Faith for Earth Coalition–in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme– to enable faith groups to promote action and influence policy choices at the local, national, regional and international levels.
About the Faith for Earth Conference
The Faith for Earth Conference is a global event designed to lay the foundation for inter-faith collaboration for sustainable and regenerative development to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The concept and objectives of this conference is tailored towards supporting the fifth United Nations Environment Assembly expected to be held in February 2021 in Nairobi. The theme of the Assembly is "Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”.
The conference was convened from 5-8 October 2020 and used the historic Skálholt Cathedral in the South of Iceland as its global anchor from where high-level sessions were live-streamed.
