This Guidance Manual provides an overview of the steps that governments and stakeholders can take to evaluate the present state of waste lead acid battery (WLAB) management and, as warranted, introduce policies and regulations to properly manage WLABs throughout the supply chain in an environmentally sound manner (ESM). Strategies, considerations, and tools to help achieve these goals and objectives in Africa, while focused on UNEP’s Seven Pillars for the ESM of WLABs, are addressed throughout this Guidance Manual. This Guidance Manual is intended to provide an introductory framework to understand and achieve the ESM of WLABs in a particular national or regional setting.
