When the Environment Unit of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Development was given the task of developing the National Environmental Management Strategy (NEMS), a key component of the process was to prepare the State of the Environment Report for Kiribati. The assessment of the State of the environment in Kiribati, measures that are being taken to ensure the health of the environment, the effect of social and economic factors on the environment and predicted trends for the future.
