The TEEBAgriFood project, initiated in January 2017, has pursued the integration and valuation of ecosystem services and biodiversity across two phases.
The first phase, until June 2022, aimed to catalyze policy reforms in the agricultural landscapes of Colombia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Thailand, focusing on making the economic value of biodiversity and ecosystem services visible and actionable. Through activities like scoping, data review, scenario analysis, and capacity building, it sought to inform agricultural land-use decisions and policy reforms.
In its second phase, from January 2019 to December 2023, the project expanded to Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, and Thailand to promote sustainable food systems that safeguard biodiversity and ecosystem services. This phase involved documenting changes, mapping policies, refining pilot projects, engaging businesses, and implementing a roadmap for sustainable change. The country studies within this project illustrate the practical approaches and achievements in enhancing sustainability in the agri-food sector globally.
