UNEP assists countries to review and update their National Implementation Plan (NIP) in order to comply with reporting obligations (Article 15) and updating of National Implementation Plans (Article 7) under the Stockholm Convention.
UNEP provides technical expertise and tools to facilitate information and data collection, compilation, validation and analysis, as well as the information exchange and transmission. As a result, enhanced communication and sharing information enable Parties to compare data and identify lessons learned and good practices.
The Integrated Electronic Toolkit developed by UNEP helps Parties fulfilling their Stockholm Convention obligations in a systematic and harmonized manner.
A full-size Global Environment Facility project entitled Global Development, Review and Update of National Implementation Plans (NIPs) under the Stockholm Convention (SC) on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) was launched in November 2021 by the Chemicals and Health Branch of UNEP to reduce the dependency of external expertise and resources to develop and update National Implementation Plan (NIP) through strengthening the political environment and technical capacities of participating countries. It provides necessary guidance, instruments and tools for building a sustainable NIP review and update process and mechanism at national level, including sustainable national reporting mechanism.
Projects outputs
