The ninth session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES 9) took place in Bonn, Germany, from 3 to 9 July 2022. 139 Member States held conversations on biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, long-term human well-being and sustainable development.
Two new reports were launched at IPBES 9: The IPBES Sustainable Use of Wild Species Assessment and the IPBES Assessment Report on the Diverse Conceptualization of the Multiple Values of Nature and its Benefits (Values Assessment). The Sustainable Use of Wild Species Assessment was launched on Friday, 8 July 2022, at 13:30 CEST. The report examines the feasibility and options for the sustainable use of wild species of algae, animals, fungi and plants on land and the oceans. The Values Assessment was launched on Monday, 11 July at 14:00 CEST. The report highlights ways to embed diverse values and valuation methods into policy making.
